News: I'm going to be Published!

First off, Happy New Year! It’s already been an eventful one and time is sure flying as well.

I’ve been trickling this news out for quite awhile, waiting for the right time to fully announce, but that time seems to be now. In a few months, I’ll be a published author for the first time!

I don’t have a confirmed release date yet, but I’m currently putting the finishing touches on my book, Paradiddlemania!

It’s been a deeply satisfying, but complex, process as I do most of the work on my own. Not only did I write the exercises, I’ve had to engrave them, write all of the text of the book, learn how to and design the layout, learn to play the exercises (which was harder than I imagined), direct and film myself, edit video, edit audio, create MIDI playback, and the list goes on.

Truth be told, some of those things I mentioned are still just on my to-do list and haven’t even been started.

I can, however, share the first look at the cover design. It was put together by Paul Hasas with a photo you might recognize by Fiona Cansino. Seeing it finished brings home the notion that this is really happening!

The book will be available digitally with Wizdom Media, run by Dom Famularo and Joe Bergamini, which distributes through Hudson Music.

I’m really excited by the format because it will be an interactive experience.

When you purchase the book, it will be available in the Hudson Music app. You’ll be able to click on the music and watch the instructional video I created for that specific page. You will also be able to click on an exercise to hear it. It’s truly the next generation version of the DVD + Instructional Booklet format.

For those who prefer a physical release, I’ll be looking at self-publishing that in the future, unless the publisher wants to print it. Sit tight for those details.

For those of you looking for more videos in the Rhythm and Reading Series, believe me, I haven’t forgotten about you. I hope to get into syncopation and triplet rhythms real soon.

I also have a slew of cover videos, original music and more bouncing around in my head. I’ll announce that news as it comes.
